The Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) is a relatively small organization with a mission critical to our national defense. Our job is to process applicants for all five services into the armed forces. The job is both challenging and rewarding. For most new military service members, processing through the MEPS is the first real exposure to a military operation. For that reason, we seek customer-oriented employees with a desire to serve their country in a meaningful way. The Boston MEPS activity is located in beautiful historic Boston, MA, which provides unparalleled access to cultural, sports, civil, and recreational activities. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Back to top Specialized Experience: To Qualify applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level of GS-04. Specialized experience is defined as: Work that involves fingerprinting applicants, verifying documents, recording information for electronic files, maintenance and accountability of enlistment records, and enlistment processing procedures. OR Qualifying with Education: Incumbent may qualify for the GS-05 provided they possess up to four years of college coursework above high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR Qualifying with a combination of specialized experience and education: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at the GS-5 grade level. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of post-high school education by 60 semester hours. Add the two percentages.
