They need a talented Principal R&D Engineer to join the R&D team at their Innovation Center. This is an opportunity to evaluate, develop, and demonstrate early-stage performance/capability for new materials and RF technologies as a part of new business and strategic market growth initiatives and reports to the Vice President of Research and Development.
Responsibilities for the Principal R&D Engineer (RF Electronics)
• Design and implement experimental strategies utilizing relevant materials to support the discovery and research to provide confidence in rationale for company development and investment
• Design and conduct experiments to support the discovery and uses of high frequency/radio frequency electronic materials, components and devices
• Develop and execute quality work plans and manage the project roadmap for next generation products
• Hire qualified team members, acquire equipment and identify and obtain necessary project resources
• Successfully measure and track project metrics
• Build university and third party relationships to support execution of projects and programs
• Coordinate the efforts of functional project partners at universities, third party collaborators, relevant government agencies, and internal employee resources
• Supervise and mentor 1-3 technicians and/or engineering professionals
Job Requirements
Requirements for Principal R&D Engineer (RF Electronics)
• MS/PhD Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or Materials-Science
• 8 +years of development, evaluation, and commercialization of components development for the Radio Frequency electronics industry and cellular/wireless industry
• Ability to understand and leverage dielectric and magnetic properties in the design of electronic materials ideally dielectrics and magneto-dielectrics
• Ability to understand and develop RF device components with an emphasis on antenna development
• Ability to plan, organize and oversee multiple independent research projects
• Ability to define problems, collect data, recognize patterns, and draw valid conclusions and experience with dealing with both abstract and concrete variables
• Strong critical thinking and experimental skills with a proven track record of project contributions and solving complex challenges
• Strong understanding of statistical methods for data evaluation and experiment design
• Demonstrated success with product commercialization
• Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation skills
• Ability to successfully work independently and as part of a cross functional, multi-disciplinary teams while designing and implementing program strategy
• Ability to travel up to 50% in the U.S. and abroad US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required
