As a Public Affairs Information Assistant you are responsible for providing assistance to the Special Affairs Specialist. Typical work assignments include:
· Helping to provide on-site visitors with information and answers to questions using knowledge of museum resources.
· Assisting with the museums Public Affairs Specialist by updating the content of the museums public affairs page on the museum website.
· Assisting the Public Affairs Specialist with writing, editing and disseminating press releases, press kits, public service announcements and articles concerning museum issues and programs to the media and public.
· Assisting with open house events, and public programs promoting the Museum and its mission.
· Evaluating the public and information potential of various museum programs, activities and events.

GS-04 - Candidates must have had one (1) year of general experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. General experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position as described above, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
Education may be substituted for experience. GS-04: Two years of education above the high school level for experience. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
Combination of Experience and Education: a combination of experience and college education to meet the total requirements for this position. (NOTE: You must have a large enough percentage of required experience and a large percentage of the required education, so that when added together, the percentage would equal 100%.)
