SENIOR IMPORT SPECIALIST at Framingham

Job Description

Position summary:


Staples Inc is looking to hire a Senior Import Specialist based in our Framingham office. This associate is responsible for replenishment of several hundred suppliers and 20 Global Staples Business Units around the world. Additionally the position is extremely customer focused and responsible for effectively managing relationships throughout the Supply Chain, including the Staples Brands Group International Supplier base, International Logistics, Transportation, and Global Business units to achieve synchronized goals of optimizing service and cost, while assisting in reaching Supply Chain Excellence.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Replenishment for several hundred suppliers and 20 Global Staples Business Units around the world.
  • Confirm, track , expedite and maintain all purchase orders for GSBUs and S.B.I. Manufacturing Entity
  • Issue Letters of Credits and LC Amendments for International Payments for all Suppliers
  • Approve all International bank funding and discrepancies
  • Responsible for knowing and understanding International Inco Terms
  • Responsible for making sure all GSBUs receive product 100% accurately, and must resolve any and all discrepancies or variances (overages, shortages or damages) with suppliers and or GSBUs warehouses
  • Responsible for creating and issuing S.B.I. invoices and Customs Commercial Invoices for Canada and 8 Europe Business units
  • Provide guidance and training to peers. Be the liaison to management and escalate appropriately
  • Manage and prioritize special projects and ensure they remain on time
  • Communication and maintenance for 20 GSBUs with regards to SBG items, Skus, UPC numbers, price, minimums, packing dimensions. This includes new item project timelines
  • Provide support through detailed analysis and reporting for Global Staples Business units, S.B.G. Product Development, and Suppliers to help develop sourcing and product development strategy
  • Communication and daily interaction via phone, travel, e-mail with Suppliers and Global Staples Business units from all over the world
  • Capacity planning - create and analyze capacity and business needs for Global Staples Business Units. Work with each supplier to book and secure production space by product and mold
  • Forecast- Create, analyze and distribute replenishment demand forecasts to each supplier for all 20 GSBUs to ensure production space is available and booked to ship and deliver products on time
  • Manage domestic and international suppliers to ensure high standards of supply chain metrics are met, which includes on time booking, tendering, shipping, and delivering of top quality products
  • Work closely with Suppliers to ensure they are meeting supplier program specifications that impact pricing, which includes lead time, supplier minimums, case packs, packing dimensions, and supplier on time delivery
  • Work closely with SBG Product Development, Brand, SBG Asia, and Suppliers to plan and execute new and iconic product development and transitions for Planogram and Seasonal promotions
  • Factory setup and maintenance- Responsible for setting up all factories and Beneficiaries in S.B.G. Replenishment System Rockweb, ensure legal agreements are attached to each Beneficiary ID in the system

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
Basic:

  • Bachelor Degree required
  • Minimum 2 to 4 years procurement experience preferred in the import/international area

Preferred:

  • Excellent problem solving techniques and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written required
  • Excellent computer skills required (Excel, Word, Access)
  • Must be detail oriented, well organized and good time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization as well as cross functionally
