Job Title: Production Maintenance Lead

Position Title:

Reports To: Production Manager

Hours: Approx. 50 (40 hrs./wk.+ OT)

Position Overview:

The goal of this position is to ensure the proper maintenance and operation of all production equipment. That goal includes training related personnel within a fast paced diverse Personal Care Product / Contract Packaging environment. This professional must be able to understand, troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of packaging equipment including bottle/jar/tube filling, capping, labeling and related equipment, while following GMP practices related to the products produced.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

 

•  Ensure safe and efficient operations through the maintenance of production machinery, as well as through hands-on-training of personnel (Total Productive Maintenance) and the use of sound Preventative Maintenance practices in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) manufacturing environment.

 

•  Diagnose, maintain and as needed repair production machinery (both mechanical and electrical issues). This includes; problem identification, referencing technical documentation, utilizing internal and external expertise, assessing material requirements, requisitions, and timely completion of the actual repair.

 

•  Maintenance of an adequate and documented inventory of Change Parts and Spare Parts to support efficient production and minimize down time.

 

•  Develop, propose and upon approval implement detailed improvement plans for Equipment, Processes, and Personnel.

 

•  Support and embrace the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality goals of the company including participation in internal and 3rd party Audits.

 

•  As needed, stand in other production roles when there are above normal production volumes / hours, for break relief and for absentee employees.

 

•  This role has a significant and influential position across the organization and must lead by example and be able to quickly earn the respect and support of Management, peers and both full time and temporary employees.

 

Supervision Received:

•  This position will report to the Production Manager. Supervision will be goal oriented with a good degree of latitude for creativity in problem solving.

 

Supervision Exercised:

•  Provide training and guidance to Production staff including Machine Operators, others with production equipment maintenance responsibilities, and to Production Line worker’s.

 

 

Qualifications / Skills / Experience / Education:

•  College/Associates degree or equivalent military experience (at or above E4) in a mechanical or technology related discipline desired

•  7+ years of Manufacturing Equipment maintenance responsibilities is required, preferably in a GMP / Consumer Product Packaging / Manufacturing environment.

•  Experience troubleshooting, maintaining and operating filling / packaging / labeling equipment in the Personal Care and/or Household liquid filling & Packaging or related fields such as Beverage, Chemical or OTC / Medical Product filling and packaging is highly desired.

•  Training and experience with Total Productive Maintenance and related Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing skills.

•  Ability to gain MA. Steam License or equivalent experience a plus

•  Ability to Read, Write, and Speak English fluently (Bi-lingual ability with Portuguese or Creole is desirable but not required).

•  Strong computational skills and a demonstrated ability to maintain clear and accurate numerical records.

•  Proficiency in MS Office and/or like software tools including basic word processing and basic spreadsheets.

•  A demonstrated ability to make clear verbal and/or written presentations across career levels, including presentations about technical equipment and/or safety issues.

•  Strong attention to detail in both developing and following written and verbal instructions.

•  Demonstrated people skills

 

 

Physical Requirements:

•  Within a production environment, the ability to stand for long periods of time with full range of mobility to participate in a diverse set of activities on the plant floor working with equipment and personnel.

•  Demonstrated ability to lift 50 lbs.

•  Pass the pre-employment physical and drug test

 

 

 

Job Requirements

College Degree/ Associates
7 years manufacturing equipment maintenance responsibilities is required preferably in a GMP/Consumer
Packaging / Manufacturing Environment.
