Systems Manager at Canton

Job Description

Job summary:Provides leadership for those involved in one or more information systems function (e.g., development, design and optimization, implementation and/or maintenance of technical information systems platforms) for a specific user group or organizational unit. Consults with management to determine the information systems needs and project priorities, scope and goals; leads or sponsors technology projects; researches and applies best practices to processes and procedures as appropriate; and evaluates how new technologies, products and techniques can meet future technology needs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to analysis, selection and modification of enterprise systems, application software, installation of network hardware and software, and database management.General duties and responsibilities: Manages one or more information systems functions for a specific user group/functional area (e.g., credit/debit card line of business, NYCE network) for a site, or the entire organization to provide adequate technical support for new product or process developments, production, and product problems, or to identify possible new areas for technical exploration. Consults with management to analyze information technology needs and determine scope, objectives, and priorities of technical projects, technical systems capacity, budgeting requirements and IT acquisitions. Drives the translation of product strategy and business owner expectations into long-range systems projects/plans with priority recommendations which will be executed by the systems/technical team. Makes development recommendations to business owner based on experience with client expectations and issues. Notifies the business owner of potential technical or operational constraints including performance implications. Develops financial estimates for operating and/or capital expenses expected from meeting team deliverables; including financial forecasting, purchasing decisions, and staffing related costs for new or existing products or company initiatives. Assigns and monitors the work of project team, providing technical and analytical support and direction. Interfaces with external clients or field-based employees on technical matters as needed. May manage small projects or sub-projects. Develops, implements, and monitors information technology standards, practices, procedures, and controls to maximize efficiency and support platform compatibility and to ensure data integrity, security, and legal and regulatory compliance. Coordinates delivery of services to user groups and ensures IT service is uninterrupted. Directs and provides day-to-day expertise, coaching, and leadership to management/supervisory team and staff for areas including information systems design and development, systems planning, programming, operations, architecture, data processing, data security, networks, systems support, and/or analysis. Provides leadership for area of responsibility including planning, coaching, recruiting, selection, performance development, and mentoring. Researches and evaluates new technologies, products and techniques that could meet future technology needs. Participates in disaster recovery/business continuity activities as needed. May negotiate and/or contract with consultants, technical personnel, and vendors for services and products. May define and/or negotiate service level agreements for technology operations. Resolves issues and contributes to business unit/area development. Directly responsible for managing a staff of four or more direct reports, including supervisors and individual contributors in systems planning, design, implementation, organization, and/or operation. Manages twenty-five or more overall subordinates. Works closely with senior management on departmental issues. Has wide latitude for decision-making. Typically requires six or more years of related information systems experience with at least two years of leadership responsibility.
