FACILITY OPERATIONS SPECIALIST at Natick

JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

  • This position may be filled by temporary promotion or reassignment.
  • Temporary promotion/reassignment may be made or extended up to a maximum of five years.

  • About the Position:
    You will serve as a Facility Operations Specialist with responsibility for performing/coordinating facility renovation, construction and modernization programs.

    As a Facility Operations Specialist you will be responsible for:

     

  • Coordinating facility renovation projects
  • Monitoring modernization and maintenance programs
  • Advising management on the status of projects/programs pertaining to facility modernization
  • Developing Statements Of Work and execute long range plans and programs
  • Serving as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR)

    In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.  Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

    Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.  Specialized experience is defined as:  Managing a maintenance program for office or apartment building complexes, hospitals, recreation facilities, military, or other special-purpose installations, planning maintenance activities, and/or developing preventive maintenance programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

     

    You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

    • KNOWLEDGE OF FACILITIES MANAGEMENT CONCEPTS, PRINCIPLES AND REGULATIONS
    • KNOWLEDGE OF BUDGET EXECUTION PRACTICES AND PRINCIPLES
    • SKILL IN APPLYING ANALYTICAL PROBLEM SOLVING METHODS AND TECHNIQUES
    • ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE – WRITTEN

    Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-09 grade (or equivalent).


    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below: (NOTE: IF YOU ARE USING EDUCATION TO QUALIFY, YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS WITH YOUR APPLICATION PACKAGE).

    Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.

    OR

    Some specialized experience, but less than one (1) year; and less than three full years of education. You must compute the percentage of the requirements that are meet, and the total must be at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 54. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify) (Transcripts are required with your application).
