Highly Specialized Accounting Manager at Boston

Job Description

Responsibilities: Be responsible for department function; results; and strategy. Be responsible for all hiring and department organization. Leads, plans, organizes and makes final decisions with respect to department performance in support of company or organizations strategic objectives. Generally, report to the CFO. Work closely with the business line in the planning for and deployment of a legal entity restructuring project and the impact on internal accounting systems and reporting. Develop testing plans, cut-over plans; and participate in the execution of those plans. Assist with the set-up required for the project in the Oracle corporate ledger. Activities include, but are not limited to the review and validation of new company forms and the establishment of a chart of accounts and Responsibility Centers. Work on chart of accounts and cost center maintenance; using knowledge of hierarchy structures and knowledge of the Oracle cost center and account request process. Work with cross reference tables in MS Excel; converting data and financial results from one view to another. Ensure elimination rules are properly requested for intercompany account opening requests. Work as needed on special projects.

Job Requirements

Specific Qualifications (required unless noted otherwise):
  • A Bachelors Degree (MBA preferred) with 13+ years of experience in the combination of function area and/or management experience
  • Understanding of accounting and finance with knowledge of securities and financial services industry policy and reporting
  • Understanding of the accounting for client deposits at a bank and the placement of those deposits
  • Understanding of a multi-currency GL
  • Project Management skills
  • Experience working in a multi-national corporation
  • Strong understanding of general ledger structures, cost centers, and account hierarchies
  • Understanding of elimination processes for corporate consolidation
  • Must have experience performing reconciliations
  • Possess a working knowledge of ESSBASE and Oracle Financials
  • Very strong MS Excel skill is required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Some international travel will be required
