Manager of Software Quality Assurance
- Day-to-day responsibilities include management of testing team consisting of Managers and PLs responsible for performing regression and new functionality testing for all systems required to deliver project.
- Mentor team members, conduct weekly one-on-ones and write reviews for members of team.
- Candidate must be well-versed in various QA/testing methodologies including test case/scenario development, script development, execution, and defect tracking.
- Candidate will Lead team tasked to formulate detailed testing strategy and detailed test plans, including estimating effort and duration, identifying test environments, test data, number of cycles of testing, types and levels of testing that are required.
- Actively contribute to estimation and planning, risk assessment, contingency planning, tracking and management of progress, issues, risk, and resources.
- Estimate and obtain upper management support for the time, resources and budget required to perform the testing.
- Lead team to develop and execute detailed functional, performance, integration and regression test cases, and documentation.
- Ensure test process, methodologies, and tools are applied appropriately and that test phase entry/exit criteria are agreed to by stakeholders and applied by the test team.
- Provide effective and timely communication to the project delivery teams, operating and executive steering committees.
- Prioritize testing tasks based on goals and risks of projects and ensure testing milestones, activities and tasks are completed as scheduled.
- Ensure the timely delivery of different testing milestones.
- Have prior experience with automation testing tools and processes as well as performance testing methodologies.
- Develop test cases, scenarios, and scripts to ensure quality applications.
- Actively contribute to process improvement ideas with a can-do attitude.
- Execute tests and ensures results achieve documented goals and objectives.
- Play an active input and advisory role in determining release readiness of software.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 8 years of industry experience managing a large software QA team.
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience in some capacity of the software development lifecycle.
- Experience with Test-Driven Development, Continuous Integration.
- A strong understanding of SDLC best practices is required.
- Strong leadership, communication (written and verbal) and team building skills.
- Analytical and systematic approach to system and software testing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel.
- Proficient with Microsoft Visio, MS Project and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with defining and monitoring metrics.
- Experience with process improvement initiatives.
- PMP certification is a plus.
- Prior experience in managing offshore vendors is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
