Position Summary:
The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for supervising and managing all payroll processes in conjunction with in-house weekly and biweekly payrolls; monthly, quarterly, year-end tax reconciliations; interaction with Ceridian Tax Services; communication with federal, state and local taxing entities. Also is responsible for processing, distributing and administering pay for 500+ employees located across the U.S. Prepare payroll in a multi-company, multi-state environment, including payroll paychecks, direct deposits, statutory reports, and tax filings to Ceridian. This position will have three direct reports and will be responsible for all facets of the corporate in-house centralized payroll.
Responsibilities:
- Complete payroll tax registrations for new Federal, State or Local jurisdictions.
- Work effectively with third party tax vendors and tax jurisdictions as needed.
- Research new taxing locations and jurisdictions and set them up in the payroll system.
- Work with Ceridian to resolve all tax related matters.
- Timely preparation of tax files to Ceridian for statutory tax reporting and payment to state and federal entities.
- Act as liaison between Payroll and IT department for implementation of tax updates to the payroll system.
- Reconciliations for local, state and federal taxes monthly, quarterly and annually.
- Research and resolve issues between various taxing jurisdictions (local, state and federal).
- Research and comply with wage garnishments according to federal and state laws and regulations.
- Research employee residence addresses, work locations, and payroll issues.
- Continually audit employee tax records in order to identify and fix incorrect setups prior to the payroll process and subsequent tax file transmissions to Ceridian.
Timely and accurate issue of employee paychecks for multiple taxable entities and multiple states for 500+ employees.
Process timesheets from automated time collection system on a weekly basis.
Track and report employee leave and headcount.
Reconcile bank accounts and payroll sub-ledger with general ledger and insure proper recording of transactions.
Issuance of year-end W-2s for employees.
Special projects as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Associates Degree or higher in related field or 8-10 years experience in Payroll Administration, including 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Payroll Certification - CPP Preferred
- Good knowledge of federal and multi-state tax requirements
- Experience with the following systems is a plus: Deltek Costpoint, Deltek Time Collection, Cognos Impromptu
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
