Job Description

Primary responsibility will be to provide daily system administration support of the various classified programs at the Missile Defense Center, Woburn, MA. Candidate will also maintain and troubleshootLinux / PC environments and network infrastructures. Other responsibilities will include:

Provide system administration support in a classified engineering environment forLinux/Unix (Red Hat, Solaris, AIX) and Windows (2003 Server) Servers, PC Workstations (Windows XP), Storage arrays (Network Appliance) and disaster/recovery backup systems.

Configure and manage computer systems in accordance with security requirements.

Serve as lead system administrator, meeting regularly with the customer to discuss current action item status and future requirements, and managing junior system administrator tasks.

Analyze internal or external customer computing requirements, and determine equipment and software requirements for solutions to problems.

Provide Technical leadership innovation for computer environments, using the latest technologies available.

Advise on new techniques and estimated costs associated with new or revised programs and utilities, taking into consideration personnel, time, and hardware requirements, and make trade-off analyses.

Develop and manage documentation describing system specifications and operating instructions; and revise existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.

Provide complete end to end system administration support.

Some travel maybe required.

This position can be a Salary GradeE03 or Salary GradeE04 based on the candidates qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position

This position will requireobtaining an interim clearance previous to starting within a reasonable timeframe.

Basic Qualifications:

Fouryears plus of system administration experience inLinux/UNIX(Red Hat, Solaris, AIX), and Windows (2003 Server, XP) environment

Experience in UNIX (Solaris, AIX, LINUX)

Experience with Network Appliance Filers or other NAS/RAID storage devices.

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, related engineering or ITor12 years professional experience may be considered .

Strong leadership skills

Solid organizational skills

Scripting a plus

Strong understanding of Windows operating systems (2003 Server, XP-Professional).

Strong understanding of Active Directory and Group Policy.

Strong understanding of fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts.

Configure and maintain Unix based production servers & clients for mail, NIS, NIS+, DNS, NFS, and other present and future service requirements

Build Windows-based production servers and/or clients

Working knowledge of Windows (2003 Server, XP-Pro)

Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance

Demonstrated experience with system and application security or regulatory compliance requirements

Demonstrated problem solving skills
