Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of network hardware, software and related infrastructure.  Designs, plans, installs and supports network communications systems.  Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implements techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.

Clinical Background

Everyday more is learned about variations in the human genome that play important roles in the that play important roles in health and disease.  Clinicians can often use this information to improve the care of both their patients and the family members of those patients.  However, knowledge about specific variations is often spread out across different organizations and as a result it takes too long for holistic pictures of the genetics of different diseases to emerge.  Even worse, after this knowledge does emerge it is often impossible or entirely impractical for treating clinicians to access it and incorporate it into the critical decisions they make for their patients.  The lack of information technology infrastructure is a constraining both the rate at which clinical genetics is advancing and preventing us from fully applying information we already know is able to save lives. 

 

   

Qualifications:

  • The most important qualification is an ability and willingness to rapidly produce very high quality code

  • Ability to interact with end users, understand complex clinical processes and develop object models and code that accurately models these processes

  • Bachelors Degree Required: Computer Science Major preferred
