Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of network hardware, software and related infrastructure.  Designs, plans, installs and supports network communications systems.  Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implements techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
The candidate must be team orientated, motivated and willing to work closely with and support the various engineering directorates, operations staff and the local security office.  The candidate must have knowledge of network hardware, software, transmission, signaling, cabling, switching, and routing components used in data and voice communications networks.
The candidate will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the PSD Network & Computer Systems Engineering environments.  The candidate will ensure that network hardware, operating systems, software systems, application software and related procedures align with companys standards and policies and Department of Defense security protocols.
As a member of the PSD Network & Computer Systems Engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for network engineering and architecture in all phases of program life cycles.  These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research and development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. 
Occasional travel may be required.

Required Skills:
*Minimum 6 years of network engineering experience
*Minimum 6 years experience with TCP/IP networking protocols
*Minimum 6 years debugging (tcpdump, etherpeek, netstat) and program at the network level.
*Minimum 6 years experience with IP Multicast.
*Demonstrates thorough understanding of the 7 layer OSI model
*Demonstrates strong firewall and access control list knowledge
*Proficient in configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
*Experience with data circuits and related vendor management
*Experience with video teleconferencing, IP Telephony, VoIP, QoS and WAN Optimization.
*Capability to articulate a technical solution and demonstrate it on a whiteboard
*Must possess or be able to obtain US DoD Secret Clearance

Desired Skills:
Experience with classified computing or with multi-level classified environments, NISPOM, DoD 8500.2
Demonstrates strong knowledge of Visio diagramming and design capabilities
Experience with type 1 cryptography devices (Taclane configuration and operational understanding)
Experience with Virtualization (VMWare)
Experience with Cloud Computing Concepts and Architectures
Strong troubleshooting skills
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Solid organizational and time management skills
Project management experience in a technical IT environment
Cisco CCNP or CCDP Certification or other applicable certifications

Required Education (including Major):

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or 10 years of relevant work experience
