EDI Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

 
The EDI Specialist is responsible for all batch and real-time electronic commerce processing; serves as the key contact responsible for outreach to external trading partners; provides project management and technical support for development and enhancement of all electronic commerce;

 

 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 
The EDI Specialist is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the daily processes of the organizations electronic data interchange systems, support of internal users, trading partners, testing and roll-out of related procedures and software.

 
Responsibilities:

 
(1)  Oversee the timely processing of all daily EDI transaction processing, and troubleshoot as needed.

(2)  Coordinate the setup of new trading partners, including planning, project management, testing, documentation, and implementation.

(3)  Maintain comprehensive control mechanisms

a.  for batch processes, to ensure that all files are accounted for 

b.  for monitoring the data integrity of each EDI file received, and maintain the necessary archives

c.  for identifying/resolving problems which arise, and further enhancing the control mechanisms

(4)  Work with clearinghouses, NEHEN, other channels, and internal staff to resolve EDI processing issues.

(5)  Develop and maintain procedures for handling transactions processing through new channels.

(6)  Develop and maintain functional specifications for new / existing applications needed to maintain/enhance EDI processing and address the requirements of new trading partners.

(7)  Participate in transaction analysis and mapping needs, system / interface analysis, and work with programmers to implement changes as needed.

(8)  Ensure that regulatory transactions and security standards have been met.

(9)  Enhance or develop new documentation of current business process flow and definition of future EDI business information flow.

 
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

(1)  Represent Network Health at applicable activities including system user groups and other health data system organizations.

(2)  Maintain professional growth and development through self-directed learning activities and involvement in professional organizations.

(3)  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 
Education:   Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a similar field or 3 to 5 years equivalent experience required.

.

Skills/Experience:   2-3 years EDI experience, preferably in a health care environment. Must have working knowledge of X12 transactions, translation tools such as BIZTALK or others, SQL Server 2008, and a general understanding of RDBMS.  Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, reporting tools such as Business Objects. Should have working knowledge of all phases of SDLC, as well as project management skills.  Strong analytical, testing, and documentation skills also required. Experience with Visual Basic and graphical tools like Visio a plus.
