Personal Insurance Property StrategicResearch teamhas an opening for an Actuary or Director II position. This person manages a team of 4 to 5 direct reports and will be responsible for a variety of tasks. The position requires strong analytical skills, with creativity in problem solving. This person must demonstrate ability to take on full ownership and drive projects forward to completion. Solid communication skills are essential as there will be many interactions with other functional areas (e.g. Finance, Marketing, Distribution, Claims) and opportunities to present to senior management. Much of the work will involve SAS and/or predictive modeling, so experience in these areas (or a desire to learn) is required.

Responsibilities:


Inform strategic decision-making for the personal Property book of business
Provide thought leadership in advancing the Property pricing, underwriting or product agenda
Provide CW guidance in key business areas (i.e. Retention, Conversion, Rate, etc.)
Develop frameworks to forecast the impacts of various initiatives and recommend optimal strategies
Manage the innovation cycle of generating insights, championing ideas, implementing projects and delivering results
Manage 3rd party distribution channel relationship, support Distribution with efficient acquisition strategy
Perform complex ad hoc analyses
Support the business groups profit and growth objectives by managing/ performing advanced analyses and predictive modeling
Test innovative approaches to traditional business challenges
Develop and implement new tools or processes that optimize economic value within our business model
Critical leadership responsibilities
Attend industry and internal meetings; represent company at external meetings as necessary
Develop project plans, execute on deliverables within agreed upon timeframes, communicate results and make recommendations to address issues
Provide guidance to actuarial analysts, management and other internal customers
Mentor and develop actuarial and research analysts
Strong analytical skills with some understanding of Predictive Modeling/ Statistical techniques (GLMs etc.) and their application to pricing strategies.


 Requirements

Qualifications:


4 -6 years progressively responsible experience in a Fortune 500 company; P & C Insurance industry experience preferred; Financial services industry experience a must
Ability to communicate highly analytical and complex ideas to broad spectrum of audience both verbally and orally; Ability to influence Senior Management and partner organizations.
Knowledge of insurance operations and the procedures of Financial, Underwriting, Claims, Statistical, Information Technology, Legal, and Sales departments is preferred.
Ability to establish and build effective relationships within and outside the organization.
Education: FCAS or M.S. (in a quantitative discipline) preferred
