Physical Education Teacher at Rutland

Job Description

Devereux Massachusetts is currently seeking anPhysical EducationTeacher. As a Teacher you will be responsible for planning and implementing educational instruction and services in accordance with the MA Curriculum Frameworks and as required by each students Individual Education Program (IEP).

In addition to teaching and proving class management, you will model appropriate social skills, provide positive behavioral support, and continuously interact with clients. As a teacher you will responsible for guiding the Teachers Aides in classroom management and lessons, and fostering a therapeutic learning environment while helping to ensure that each clients Individual Education Plan (IEP) is met. You will have the opportunity to create an environment for learning, promote confidence and perseverance, set limits and help a client process a behavioral incident while providing a safe environment and encouraging participation in the activities.

Job Requirements

To qualify, we require our Teachers to:

*Bachelors Degree

*License in SPED. Physical Education License is preferred.

*Have at least one (1) year of related experience working with students withserious emotional disabilities

*Non-profit education environment experience a plus

*Have a strong passion for working with and helping, guiding children and adults with significant special needs

*Flexibility (216 day school calendar), patience, high energy and creativity

*Compassion, empathy, and an ability to maintain sound boundaries

*An ability to create and maintain a therapeutic treatment environment
