Vertica Database Architect 

We are looking for a Vertica Database Architect to work for a dynamic technology company providing a comprehensive suite of analytic products and data management services to all segments of the health care industry.

The database architect will provide the technical direction towards designing, creating and maintaining highly performing data warehouses. The vision is to design and implement a reliable and scalable data platform that will serve as the core for multiple business intelligence products. This is a hands-on position that will require performing development and maintenance activities, while also participating in the research and innovation efforts to discover and learn new technologies and extract business values from them.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

• Work with the product owner and business analysts in analyzing business requirements and design and implement data models and database structures to meet those requirements
• Work with the engineering team to understand the required querying and reporting patterns
• Apply performance optimization techniques accordingly including projections, pre-aggregated tables, de-normalization or redesign of existing structures in charge of the setup, installation and maintenance of Vertica database clusters and servers
• Participate in establishing processes and best practices around development standards, version control, quality control, deployment, maintenance and change managementv

Job Requirements

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in DBA activities.
• Full understanding of Vertica’s architecture
• Mastery in Vertica’s optimizations techniques such as projections and partitioning
• Experienced with data warehousing concepts and techniques including extensive knowledge and use of star/snowflake schema
• Proficient in ETL. Must be able to construct and troubleshoot very complex queries
• Experienced with handling big data (Data transfer, import/export, storage, performance and security)
• Familiarities with a wide landscape of technologies such as operating systems (Windows & Linux), networking, web and mobile application design
• Understanding and ability to participate in all phases of the SDLC including requirements gathering, business analysis, configuration management and quality control
• Previous experience working with enterprise BI platforms such as MicroStrategy, Business Objects, etc…
