JOB SUMMARY:

About the Position:

The US Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center(NSRDEC) is a Customer-Driven, Customer-Focused organization, and is internationally known as a preeminent provider of research, development, engineering and integration services in the areas of soldier and squad protection and systems integration, military rations and field feeding equipment, military parachuting and airdrop systems, and expeditionary basing. Through our research in areas such as materials sciences, biochemistry, human performance and human sciences; technology development and integration; and systems engineering, product development and support the NSRDEC plays a vital role in maximizing the effectiveness of Americas military. We are conveniently located on the shores of Lake Cochituate, in Natick, MA, (a suburb of Boston, near Routes 9, 90, 95 and 495). This position is located in the Warfighter Directorate (WD) of Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC). As the primary administrative support position for the organization, you will provide critical support to the flow of a wide range of actions supporting the Warfighter Director. Specifically, you will:

  • Receive visitors and screen telephone calls
  • Arrange conferences and meetings
  • Review incoming correspondence and refer appropriately
  • Make travel arrangements
  • Maintain files
  • Use automated software to prepare a variety of correspondence

    In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

    Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: applying office administrative practices and procedures for managing correspondence; responding to requests for information; preparing reports; coordinating travel orders; keeping a supervisors calendar; answering office calls and greeting visitors; distributing mail and correspondence; proofreading and editing correspondence and documents for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format; and entering time and attendance data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

    Qualified Typist Required - 40 WPM

    You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

    • KNOWLEDGE OF AUTOMATED SOFTWARE
    • KNOWLEDGE OF ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS
    • SKILL IN OFFICE MANAGEMENT
    • SKILL IN TIME MANAGEMENT
    • KNOWLEDGE OF CORRESPONDENCE MATTERS

    Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).

     


    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
