Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: 
Position would be part of a highly skilled team providing technical expertise, and developing solutions for a wide range of complex hardware engineering problems. The Engineer should be able to quickly understand project requirements and apply them when resolving a variety of problems. Use of judgment, creativity, and sound technical knowledge would be expected in obtaining and recommending solutions. Assignments may include new products as well as upgrades, enhancements, or fixes to existing products.
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Hardware design and development of SAS, Ethernet, or Fibre Channel solutions for use
Develop technical project requirements, including cost, performance, reliability, and quality
Collaborate with organizations throughout the client to facilitate product integration, delivery, and support
Track and resolve technical issues and requests for information
Participate and lead cross-functional design reviews
Lead physical design of board level Hardware through all design phases
Support manufacturing qualification process to ensure delivery of a high quality product.
Sets and adheres to product cost targets
Additional duties may include research, evaluation, development, and application of new storage technology, processes, and design methods
 
SKILLS: 
Knowledge and experience with one or more of the following IO Protocols: Ethernet, iSCSI, Fibre channel, PCIe, or SAS.  
Cadence Design tools experience (Concept & Allegro viewer)
General knowledge and application of engineering concepts.  
Excellent communication and technical skills 
Prior experience in the design, debug, and qualification of board level hardware
Strong sense of urgency and teamwork
Ability to learn technical concepts and material quickly and independently
Ability to work as part of a Global design and development team
High speed design experience (> 1Gbps)
Direct experience with IA architectures and chipsets, is a plus
Knowledge of server and storage systems, particularly RAID systems, is a plus
Experience with Driver interaction and integration with various Operating Systems (Win2K8, Linux, and VMWare) a plus
Experience with logic & protocol analyzers a plus. Ability to set triggers and take traces.
Python/Pearl script programming experience a plus.
Ability to debug and resolve microcontroller firmware issues a plus 
 
Education Required:  Bachelors (Technical) or equiv. experience 
Experience Required:  3 - 6 Years
