Business Development Manager - Benchtop XRF & XRD Systems at Waltham

Job Description

We are seeking a technically educated person with strong sales or related commercial experience in analytical instruments (or industries that deploy XRF and XRD technology) to help drive global growth of our benchtop products. Beyond a core understanding of the technology, in-depth market and application knowledge as well as a passion for working with customers is required. This person will be tasked to drive sales and build a clear understanding of the commercial and technical requirements necessary to develop and execute a commercial business strategy. Reporting to and working closely with the VP of Sales and Marketing, the selected candidate will apply their knowledge into strong sales results while working to refine our long-term sales and marketing strategy. Key responsibilities:
Sales Key Accounts: Leads sales and key account management activities. While initially responsible for a high level of direct sales, this person will be charged to assist in the development of existing and/or new sales channels.
Market Research: Performs Voice of the Customer (VOC) research in developing strategies to deliver profitable value to targeted markets. Collect competitive information and report findings.
Training: Trains sales force, agents, and distributors in product positioning and promotion of our products.
Marketing Communications: Supports lead generation activities with content, writes promotional copy, approves promotional material, evaluates win-loss analysis, evaluates market trends, monitors and communicates competitor activity.
Product Management: Work closely with R and Product Management to improve and deliver more value to our customers through product enhancements and potential new product introductions.
Professional Associations: Participates in conferences, exhibitions, industrial trade associations, regulatory groups, and standard/ test method development activities. Ideally, the candidate will be actively involved in key organizations.


Job Requirements

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Proactive, resourceful, self-motivated.
Experience writing reports, white papers, application notes, etc.
Comfortable delivering presentations to large audiences as well as providing training to external and internal personnel.
Good communication skills in all media and high competency in MS Office and other software programs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors of Science degree in a technical discipline. MBA a plus.
Sales or direct customer interaction experience.
Knowledge of XRD and XRF analysis techniques
At least 5 years experience in the analytical instrumentation industry, or industry experience where XRF and XRD equipment is deployed
Business-minded and commercially aware
Experienced with international travel and business
Up to 40% domestic and international travel required
