OVERVIEW

The Compensation Consultant is responsible for the consultative and analytical support for a designated group including pay program development, implementation and administration. The role translates company philosophy and direction to designated group to ensure consistency and compliance in application. Will collaborates with various levels within the organization in executing compensation programs that meet business or functional group goals and to maintain a proactive, sustainable and competitive compensation platform with leading practices.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as an advisor and establishes credibility and trust by identifying client needs and expectations, develops action plans and deliverables, and delivers on commitments.
    Utilizes an understanding of business issues and priorities to guide management decision-making by identifying anticipated benefits, consequences and impacts of alternative approaches to reward.
  • Designs and administers compensation programs including base and variable pay programs, job classification and job family structures, job pricing criteria and compensation structures. Ensures programs are aligned with business objectives and cost parameters.
  • Evaluates program proposals to ensure the cost/benefit relationship meets the organizations objectives/goals. Monitors effectiveness of new and current programs and makes recommendations for sustainable future initiatives.
  • Manages selection of, and participates in published, custom and ad hoc surveys. Analyzes market data and ensures equity, alignment and integrity of compensation data across the business.
    Leads the development and delivery of education in the area of compensation.
  • Assures company compliance with legal issues related to compensation, (e.g., FLSA), plan documentation required to comply with regulations and listing requirements and regulations. Maintain currency with applicable employment, labor and IRS laws.
    Interfaces with various stakeholders in HR, finance, or business on key features of the programs managed or client groups supported regarding estimates, forecasts, trend analysis, calculations, etc.
    Contributes to HRIS implementation and other systems implementations, as needed.
  • Understands and maximizes people and compensation reporting capabilities within all internal systems, HRIS systems and financial systems.


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Intellectual curiosity in how data can be used to answer different questions
  • Ability to retrieve, analyze, interpret and report technical and numerical data and explain in understandable terms; strong mathematical aptitude and analysis skills required
  • Demonstrated verbal, interpersonal and written skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels in the organization
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple priorities
  • Strong customer focus and presentation skill
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Exceptional Excel and data management skills; strong Microsoft Office skills, including MS Access, Word, and PowerPoint required; familiarity with HRIS applications (Workday) desired

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Business, HR or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years advanced experience in compensation program development, implementation and program administration for a multi-unit organization
  • Well versed in wage and hour laws including FLSA
  • CCP designation preferred
