Sales Engineer Funded HP * at Boston


BASIC FUNCTION OF JOB

The Funded Data Center Sales Engineer (Funded SE) works with Insight Account Executives (AE) Services AEs, and Data Center Specialists to manage and grow Data Center Storage, Virtualization and Compute solutions sales opportunities within a region or Nationally. Funded Data Center SEs focus on their partners products to achieve sales and profit goals through verbal and written interaction with the clients, on-site visits, account planning, partner teaming, and account team engagement and potentially assist with implementations. This position leverages personal technical knowledge, partner-specific company and portfolio knowledge as well as available internal/external organizational technical resources to develop and propose solutions to client needs, is considered a technical expert, and will obtain the certifications necessary to support required areas of expertise. The incumbent skills are directed at the technical knowledge, solution selling strategies and best practices of how to position manufacturer-specific and competitive technologies in designated Practice areas. The Funded Data Center SE is responsible for driving technologies sales with the Insight Sales team. This position will provide technical assistance on opportunities transferred from the Design Associate team when necessary.

Qualified candidates will have HP experience.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Develop and close Data Center Storage, Virtualization and Compute sales opportunities brought to them by Insight Account Executives
  • Consult with internal/external clients on hardware, software and/or services
  • Assist AEs in assessing customer needs via face to face meetings, conference calls, and e-mail.
  • Develop and present technically valid Data Center solutions to the end-user by utilizing manufacturer specific configuration tools
  • Develop solutions that coexist with other manufacturers products as appropriate
  • Understand clients business objectives and technical needs in order to design and configure hardware, software and services solutions
  • Assists sales with creation of technical documents required for manufacturer or distribution special pricing approval and with navigation of related procedures and processes
  • Perform account planning with partners/manufacturers to penetrate mutual non-buying accounts
  • Configure and generate quotes to sales within SLAs established by department or dictated by client deadlines
  • Develop overall solutions including high-level design (e.g.-Whiteboarding), statements of work (SOW) and bills of materials (BOM)
  • Assist Account Executives with presenting solutions to client
  • Assist Design Associate team members with BOM development
  • Serve as an expert resource for the account team with supported manufacturers
  • Conduct technology demonstrations and white boarding sessions with clients
  • Perform required research and investigation to identify and create thorough, accurate technical solution proposals based on client requirements
  • Create scopes of work for services related to solution proposals
  • Maintain professional relationships with AEs, the Funding Partner, and Clients
  • Efficiently handle internal customer service issues as they relate to quote accuracy or supply chain issues
  • Install and maintain third party desktop quoting software necessary for execution of sales engineering functions
  • Support Manufacturers partner and client conferences and events, as well as participate in trade shows, user groups, internal training of teammates, and client RFPs


  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in the field of Information Technology and/or equivalent combination of experience and education; Masters degree preferred.
  • Three-plus years of experience (as required by designated Level below) in positions related to sales support, customer service support, and technical solutions support
  • Advanced level of understanding in required technologies
  • Completion of vendor technical/sales training & certification in relevant areas of technolog
  • 2 year minimum experience with relevant technology in the Funding Partners technologies; HP
  • 2 year minimum with HP Backup/Recovery Solutions for SMB, Midsize and Enterprise organizations
  • 2 year minimum with two or more of the following ISV solutions for Backup/Recovery is essential: HP Data Protector, Symantec NetBackup,Symantec Backup Exec, Commvault Simpana, or Veam
  • Knowledge in HP StorageWorks Division Products/Solutions
  • Cisco, EMC, NetApp and/or VMWare based data center technology knowledge is a plus
  • Cloud computing, Data Center fabric, or additional technology knowledge is a plus
