Senior Linux and Web Application Administrator at Waltham

Job Description

Responsibilities: A Kforce client is seeking a Senior Linux and Web Application Administrator in Waltham, Massachusetts (MA). They are seeking intelligent, highly motivated individuals that enjoy cutting edge technology and have a passion for troubleshooting, learning and sharing knowledge.As the Linux specialist on the infrastructure and applications support team, this person will:

• Provide hands-on maintenance and support for the all elements of the infrastructure including application servers, proxy servers, security appliances, load balancers, storage and network
• Participate in the continuous improvement process for refining the architecture, performance and scalability
• Lead the efforts to maintain and enhance systems resilience and stability
• Build infrastructure to deploy and support our high-growth mission critical, healthcare web application for the storage and sharing of medical images
• Cross train across all aspects of the infrastructure and become an integral of the productions operations team including on call rotations
• Lead the effort to build and implement automated deployment and management tools and processes for efficiency and consistency
• Provide support for complex Internet-facing environments
• Build and maintain environments spanning from Development, QA, Staging and Production
• Participate in developing, refining and executing a formal Promote-to-Production process
• Develop and maintain Linux deployment standards
• Create and maintain Linux related documents, tools and monitors
• Managing third-party product and services vendors
• Complete long-term infrastructure projects on-schedule
• Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation schedule (no end-user contact required, requests from automated alerts and client services department escalation requests only)

Job Requirements

Skills:

• Production experience as a Linux Systems Administrator in a mission critical commercial (Healthcare preferred) application, minimum of 3 years
• Expert in managing Red Hat Enterprise/CentOS Server
• Expert in managing Apache Webserver and Tomcat
• Skilled in basic SQL database usage, configuration and management
• Skilled and productive in a Linux command line environment
• Fluent in scripting languages (Perl/shell/Python)
• Expert in managing and troubleshooting all common networking issues
• Experience with one or more automation toolsets (ex. Puppet)
• Experience with enterprise backups, replication, restores and disk imaging

In addition, it is preferred the Linux Administrator has the following experience/skills:

• Healthcare IT
• Hardware requirements and systems specification development for dedicated, hybrid and Cloud-leveraging infrastructure
• Storage systems configuration and management
• F5 and Cisco appliance configuration and management
• Security and encryption infrastructure configuration and management
